I have noticed that the boost in my car is not steady after I hit around 15psi. If I floor it in 3rd gear I get to a max boost of 19/20psi and then it will quickly bob between 16psi and about 18/19psi. (all gears after you plug into 3rd) I am not sure why this is happening. I understand that with the Maptun ECU I should have a solid boost curve after about 2800RPMs and this boost curve as it is now is far from solid. Any ideas?
Also, I have noticed that my APC solenoid is humming a bit if I blip the throttle at idle. (it is so quiet that I cant hear if it is doing it if I don’t let off right away) I think this may be something. It sounds like a VERY quiet fog horn for a second or two. Is this the sign of a bad solenoid? If it is I think that may be one of the possible problems. Do any of you know if it can be fixed or is this a trash it and buy another one item?
One other thing I can think of is the boost gauge set-up. I am pretty sure it is accurate but I think a mechanic at my Saab dealer may have pointed out a poor choice in vacuum lines. The line that he said to hook up to turns out to be the vacuum line for the fuel pressure computer. The gauge works fine but I am now beginning to think that the added hose length for the gauge and the "T connector" make the line take a split second longer to get the pressure to the computer hence, making the ECU see that less fuel is getting there and then cut back on my boost. Maybe I am crazy but I think I will move the line over the weekend. Also, I think it was doing this before the gauge was in but the stock gauge is too short and hard to tell if there is movement. What do you guys think?
Other than this I am not sure what it can be. The ECU is still incredible but I would love to be able to run full boost. Please let me know if this is something you have seen or have any advice.
Cheers,
Chris.
