nice to be back on the board after X amounts of months!
Anyway, I have a couple question regarding the stress points in the 9000 transmission.
What are these stress points? And do I really need Syn gear oil?
I know the the mechanical operation of the 9000 trans is much different than the C900 trans, which benefits greatly from Syn gear oil.
The reason I ask is all the umpteen posts on the 9000 BB over the last couple of years (that I have been involved in) that stress that gear oil must NOT be used in the 9000 transmission. Is there any proof in the form of mechanical operations of the tranmission OR differential that warrants this (not using gear oil)?
The reason I'm asking these questions is that I have been using gear oil (AMSOIL 75w90) for about 130K km and the differential has been noisy that whole time, starting EXACtly when I changed to the Amsoil, and is getting progressively worse.
Just curious...
thanks a lot
Stephen
