HOTT Saab 900T! Move K&N into fender.....?

Well, in Tacoma, WA it got to 90+ degrees, and my car was running WAY to hot. I pretty much overheated it sitting in the McDonald's drive-thru. I have a K&N airfilter in the location of the stock airbox. Would moving this into the inner fender change this very much? I know it doesn't get that hot that often here, but I would like to keep it from happening again.
How much work would it be to do, and would it really help that much? Thanks,
-IronJoe
