Why is it that I can't get straight or complete answers out of any of the guys that offer ECU upgrades? Here is an example; I sent the following email to Swedish Dynamics, and below that is their response. Notice they ignored or half answered most of my questions. And no explanation of the disparity between their web site saying 240HP and the email says 210HP... what is a customer to believe? I'm not picking on these guys in particular - Abbott America doesn't return my emails or phone calls AT ALL, so I suppose this is an improvement...

Does anyone know of any tuners that give full information?

Subj: ECU Upgrade for 1999 9-5 2.3 LPT

Your web site mentions an ECU upgrade for $895 to 240HP.

A few questions:

1. The web site says the upgrade is for a 2000/2001 9-5 T7-based ECU, is it an oversight that the 1999 is not listed? (the 1999 9-5 is T7 Trionic also)

2. My car is an 1999 9-5 2.3L LPT with automatic transmission - what are the HP and torque numbers for this upgrade?

3. Does the torque curve remain flat from 1800 - 4500 RPM or so as in with the standard ECU?

4. Does the new ECU limit the torque in 1st and 2nd gears as does the Aero ECU?

5. How hard is the installation? Does it require a Tech II and a dealer?

6. What is the warranty?

7. Do you have dyno charts showing the HP/torque improvement?

Thanks!

Their response:

Jay,
Thank you for the Email.
Our LPT upgrade would convert the low pressure turbo into full pressure turbo to approx. 210 bhp. The upgrade would require an APC solenoid and pressure lines which are factory/OEM FPT replacement items (we also supply these). The T7 upgrade typically requires that we have access to the car for Tech II installation.

Thanks/Regards,
