90 SPG
Hi all. I know that I will need a air/fuel ratio meter to eventually fine tune this, but I would like to be in the ball park when I start buying putting things on.
My first question is essentially what fuel system mods are necessary at what boost levels?
Trent Saab claims to get 220 HP running their APC (which I think is around 20 psi boost) the only fuel system mod needed is their RRFPR. They claim the stock injectors are fine. Their other mods to get to 220 HP include a recirculating dump valve, wastegate mods (.5 bar wastegate, etc), and exhaust.
I've been told this level of HP can be obtained running SPG9's RRFPR, 30# injectors, SPG9's A.I.D. and SPG9's Stage II APC (I believe 20 psi sustained boost) only.
I was planning to start small and have an upgrade path. I was planning to add a 3.0 bar FPR (since used they are 1/10 the price of a RRFPR) and a KC Saab modified vacuum advance unit (similar to SPG9's A.I.D.). If I'm using a tweaked box to hopefully hit 17-18 psi peak with a taper back to 13-15 psi, do I need injectors? Or, should I keep the stock injectors and just splurge for the RRFPR? Or, do I need both RRFPR and new injectors?
The goal here is to start relatively mild and low cost (under $350) but have an upgrade path later to wild. I had hoped I could achieve what I wanted now by buying the 3.0 bar FPR now and replacing it with a RRFPR later when I wanted to go wild.
However, the price of a RRFPR is not that much more than the price of a used 3.0 bar FPR and 30 lbs injectors. So, if a 3.0 FPR with stock injectors is not good enough, which is the better combination:
a) 3.0 bar FPR and 30# injectors
b) RRFPR and stock injectors.
Hopefully I won't be told I need to go all the way and get RRFPR and 30# injectors!
One other related question, do I need to do anything to the wastegate for the boost levels I've mentioned?
Thanks in advance for the help.
