the 85-89 740 2.3L turbo and na came lh 2.2, 30# inj at 3 bar, and big amm # xxx-xxx-007 with idle trim screw. they crank this combo over 250 hp. less pressure drop to.
note .. volvo amm has same # pins and related functions, but seq may be diff vs saab.
the risk for swap is that the amm output curve could be quite diff, and not a simple linear scale up of saab amm. splitsec.com now has a mapable amm interface, so the volvo amm curve could be trimmed to match saab ecu, if necessary.
use dvom with duty cycle or datalogger to monitor amm out and duty cycle, and raw o2 output. i'd try to use it with 32# inj's, and use small ext R to cut back ms, and 2 pin pressure switch to shunt out r for ~10% high boost enrichment.
the ext ohm method worked out by brad is a simple version of the arc1, with no offset trim and no ability to increase output gain. it really is an approx method, since the amm curve is a polynomial, and the ext R is really for just for a simple power relation of flow vs volts. but the mapped amm calibrator would be overkill for stock amm, since it's flow control limit is around 220 hp or so.
for the 2.4, consider 91-92 saab 9kt amm, or volvo amm xxx-xxx-016 from 90-92.
