Some thoughts,
About a year ago when I had my BTM set up to give a bit more aggressive mid boost retard (It was from 21BTDC to 10BTDC @1bar) it gave very good acceleration feel.
BUT after I once drove it a on aeroplane-spare landingground almost at top speed I had to turn things down.
Problem was that somewhere at 200km/h knock led blinked, boost dropped knock led blinked boost dropped, finally down to base boost and I still
got KNOCK INDICATION(led blinking like crazy)!! So there´s nothing to protect your engine below, say 0,5bar which is still quite high boost if you have about 14-15BTDC ignition timing. So, under heavy load, I believe that it can be dangerous to have too less retard.
Maybe you could experiment with APC knock indication output/ extra relay etc, to give possible for example false boost level to BTM so that it would ad some more retard. I had temperature sensor "fooling" resistor to give more fuel in case knock led lit, but Lucas ECU gave CE light, so it was a bit annoying. Didn´t bother to verify from lambda voltage if it had any effect on riching the mixture.
