Removing catalyst

I have a '99 9-3 LPT with these mods
Abbott ECU@1.1BAR
Viggen I/C
Bailey dumpvalve
K&N
I am planning to upgrade the exhaust. The price of the Saabcatalog exhaust seems OK, so I will probably go for that one + I also have people vouching for the nice sound (don't want anything TOO loud).
I asked about changing downpipe and leaving the cat as standard, but this seems to be ineffective.
I am seriously considering removing the cat altogether with a downpipe/bypass pipe. I need to know two things.
1. What is the diameter of the Saabcatalog exhaust, so I can get a suitable bypass pipe.
2. Will I be able to replace the catalyst in the future for emissions testing? i.e. is the down/bypass pipe a bolt-on thing, or is it welded in place?
Thanks in advance
