JD,
First, as a newbie to this board, thanks for the response.
Here is a big surprise. This was a hot topic at the "Viggen Flight Academy" -- whether or not we could increase performance of our 1999 Viggens with a "00" chip. I won't attribute this as it is obviously "hot", but there was NO performance increase with the "00" chip.
"Believe it or don't"....that topic is closed in my book.
Remember also JD that the numbers represent peak horsepower and torque. My issue is not with max power in 3rd gear up. However, I do believe they have re-mapped the power output for 1st & 2nd gears. Even in the earliest Viggens, torque and HP were limited in these two gears. I'm saying the "00" chip has a significant "seat of the pants" difference in both these gears.
I don't even think that the max HP or torque in 1st & 2nd has necessarily changed. However, when and how the engine gets to those peaks in those gears has, I believe, changed significantly. The car is far less agressive and interesting with the "00" chip. Not just "seat-of-the-pants" different -- I can see it on the boost gauge as well.
read it and weep.....
