Cleaner not always a bad idea (CIS cars)... On cars, like 8 valve 900s, with certain versions of K Jetronic or CIS,(i believe the versions that use air shrouded injectors), the injector itself retains gas after shutoff. In the summer, particularly if the car has been parked long enough for gas to get lousy, the injectors get heat soaked after shutoff. This cooks the gas remaining in the injector; enough cycles of this and varnish forms, the car runs like crap, misses, refuses to rev etc. In the 3 CIS cars I've owned 2 cans of techron in a fill up solved the problem.
