Hi !
Some guesswork, since I've not seen you car.
1) I'm not sure that the misaimed injector caused this problem. I've seen worse hardware setups...... But one thing is for sure, injector spray pattern is becoming very important nowdays with the emission regulations that we have got, both in Europe and the US.
Normally a misaliged injector will affect idle, low load conditions and, transients.(because of wetting the walls)
Usually not so bad so that you get "real bad" misfire.
2) I've done it, worked fine for me.
But not for you are you sure that the 18 Ohm injectors caused this ?
Please open up the T5 ECM and take a photo of the "damage area", and thenm maybe we can understand what happend.
