I was stunned and brought back down to earth regarding the reality of performance tuning when Pablo Mazlumian (sp?) destroyed the first M3 engine by running high boost on 92 octane fuel. Not a cheap engine to fry! It's been a really fun series of articles though -- especially the race against the Viper.
