I installed the TurboXS BPV on my 9-5 a while ago... a left over from my killed 95SET.

I would not recommend it for the 9-5 as it does not fit piston to pressure and when mounted the other way around, 1" needs to be cut from the 25mm return pipe. It is a large valve. It did fit the NG900 fine with the hose barb under the shroud over the rad. Can't do that with the 9-5 as the engine moves too much on its mounts and the hose gets sliced off.

However, it has a 32mm piston, around 50m long. I have always thought that this amount if air volume would slow down the valve as the VAC line needs to evacuate or pressurize that volume. That means slower operation.

The thought has aways been to fill much of the space withing the spring's ID with a solid. I have measured and scrounged the hardware store looking for materials, brass, plastic even wood. I don't have a metal lathe so some options are out.

So I get a beer and the calipers out and I eye this gas powered cork popper that my better half like for blowing open bottles of wine. The aluminum gas cartridge is exactly 22mm in diameter, exacly what I need. But its not empty, then my eyes drift to a big bowl that collects wine corks. Measure... 22mm by 46mm. Exactly what is needed, and light weight so I don't need to fasten it to the spring cap and resilient so it does not matter if it bounces off one end or the other.

So my BPV has a cork in it! Not very high tech, but it will be interesting to see how it works out. Are French corks faster than California corks?

As the TurboXS unit does not have piston facing pressure, it will resist almost any pressure and does not have the pressure to help it open either. So this change should be helpful.
