Shift Linkage Mods

Has anyone found a way to stiffen the shift linkage in their 9000? I'm talking here about the later linkage, which is purported to be an improvement over the original but still feels like a hunk of play-doh in between the shifter and the tranny. I'd trade some vibration for better shifting.
Thanks,
Bill
