Adjusting your base boost does nothing if you are running an APC box. APC box holds the wastegate shut by bypassing turbo outlet pressure into the atmospheric post AMM intake instead of the wastegate actuator. (just as adjusting the wastegate arm does.) If you shorten the rod too much, you will be bypassing the APC controls and knock detection feature will be useless. APC is nothing more than an "intelligent" electronic Dawes device.
Adjust your f/p pots or get an aftermarket mod box if you want better turbo performance.
