JJ,
Talk to Paul before you install the 6 puck Kevlar disc. I'm sure it's a fine piece that Dave has sourced and I respect his products, but if the pressure plate is an equilvalent copy, then why use something so harsh and grabby?
Many clutch people have tried to sell me a pressure plate that must use Kevlar, ceramic, copper discs. When I finally tell them that all I want is the PP only, then they tell me that they can't do it. I guess it's a lot cheaper to build a hot disc than a strong PP. I have been close to just throwing in a crazy disc and living with the rough engagement, but Paul and Frank both have told me that the disc should be left stock. There is a guy that posts here every so often that has SDS stand alone in his 91' 9000T and a 6 finger copper clutch. According to him it doesn't work.(link)That's fairly telling considering the ultra aggressive facings of that thing.
I guess what I would do is just talk with Dave and ask him specifics about the plate and see if it will be strong enough to support the stock disc. If this is the case, I personally would use the organic Saab disc. If that works, and the price isn't too bad, then I would rather buy one from Dave too. Good luck JJ, and let us know what you think after a few thousand miles. Look forward to meeting you up in Boston. :o)
