I don't think the issue here is whether or not a 300hp civic can run 12's (which it could very well do), the issue is getting that kind of hp out of a low displacement N/A engine. His compression ratios, cam grinds, etc would have to be so aggresive that the car would be almost undriveable on the street. Now, I know there are a few people out there who have probably built 1.8l Honda's that run 12's without forced induction, I just don't see how it could be done without running 110 octane fuel etc etc. No disrespect to any closet Honda guys on the board :)
Additionally, honda motors (and most motors in the category) generate power waaay up in the RPM range (6k+). Us C900 guys (assuming stock gears/5 speed, redlines) find out real quick that 1st gear is basically useless - in a Honda you could be doing 35-40mph no problem while in the Saab you spend more time shifting through gears. I'm not sure about all of my specifics here so if anyone can clarify with concrete information please do! Most of my knowledge about civics etc comes from friends who've owned/modified their own and our natural desire to compare Saabs to Hondas :)
Hope that helps!
