short shifter question

Been looking up a bunch of past threads on short shifters and had a couple questions:
1. Saab Saviour appears to be the only current supplier of c900 short shifters. True?
2. Is the height of Saab Saviour's shifter lower, or is the pivot point raised in order to get a 40% reduction in throw?
I prefer slightly higher shift efforts with a lower shifter height. I feel like I am driving a truck when taking off from a stop light. Takes much longer to shift from 1st to 2nd than it should.
If the height on SS's shifter is not reduced, then anyone have comments on the DIY mod? Any special tools such as end mill, etc?
TIA for your input
