feedback. Here's the deal. I have a 1991 Olds Custom Cruiser (station wagon with Vistacruiser roof glass). It's the fourth car in the family; the other 3 are SAABs. But I digress. The car has no rust and the body is in better shape than Ana Kourikova. But it has 160,000 miles and the engine and trans are both failing. I figure I can either get rid of it or make a project of it. This wagon unlike the later B wagons does not have the LT1. I thought about dropping in an LT1 or LT4, but the reverse coolant flow and cost issues make that a nonstarter. Plan B is a Chevy crate motor, probably a 350HO, HT383 or ZZ4. (No smog checks in my area, and the SAABs perform so well on emissions I figure I will still be a model citizen, on net.) I am leaning towards the HT383 because it has the most saablike torque curve. Suspension upgrades are a must, and I have received some good suggestions for that from the Impala/9C1 community. Since the trans is shot I am also thinking Borg Warner T56 6-speed. There are some 9C1 guys in Maryland who sell a kit, link below. I plan to run Impala wheels but otherwise maintain the stock Olds look. Comments welcome!
