Jarrad,
Hope all's well!
The pre 1989 900T used the 215mm (8.5") while the 1990-1993 900 had gone over to the 228mm (9") version which is the same as the 2.0 liter 9000 clutch. Maximum hold will come through use of the larger diameter given the same friction materials and pressure plate rate.
Our aluminum flywheel will allow for direct installation of either the 215mm or larger 228mm clutch. Many of our customers seeking the 250 BHP level have been able to use the 215mm clutch since this saves over one pound on rotating mass over the 228mm. If looking for maximum hold and some additional hold insurance, the 228mm would be better suited. Use of a sintered ceramic/iron disc will provide the best hold yet retain ease of engagement. Our discs are made 4mm undersize to allow for better reduction of temperatures at the pressure plate hence better hold.
Best regards for the weekend!
