99 viggen- just bought -U guys have me worried!(long)

I asked a few questions about only getting mid yellow boost and had a few suggestions about replacing my MAF. So I read some old posts relative to this and I'm definitely worried.
I just bought this Viggen- 99 with 20K on it. It just came off warranty a week prior to me buying it. The previous owner had a few things done prior to the warranty exporation -replaced noisy lifter- I bought it out of state and just drove it 1400 miles to Minnesota(my home). I babied it- cruise all the way at 78mph 32mpg. I think I may have heard it knock going through Chicago-5th gear windows open (next to the divider
(echo) lugging a little by accident. The car is running fine-currently.
So, here are my questions:
If it is running fine - can I have any damage? And if so what can be done now?(aside from changing the MAF)
What can I check myself for damage without looking at the #1 piston etc?
Can I test my MAF now?
Thanks for all advice
Dave- Glad I stil have my old trusty 90 SPG but can't afford to do major engine work on my (new) Viggen
