Wide to maintain as much speed as possible. The handbrake turns are ONLY for when you screw up.<g> As you probably have found by now acceleration is not one of the Sonett's virtues, so maintaining whatever speed you have is best. Slower and smooth is usually better than fast & jerky, That is probably not the correct term? But I think you understand. This doesn't mean you are out for a Sunday drive<g> You still have to make the car work.
The more you do it the better you will become, just remember 40 years ago SAAB and the Mini were the only front drive cars auto crossing/gymkhana. On a rainy day/tight course we killed<g>. Today almost everything has FWD & more power and better brakes.
Just enjoy the ride, PS: I suspect your carb has a float level problem, I don't remember any problem with the 28/36 I ran for two years back in the early 70's. The drop and height are both important. If the drop is too low gas gets on top in a turn and it will flood coming out of the turn until it uses up the excess gas.
Goos luck, RGS in Pittsburgh, Pa. USA
