Saabers.
Here is the saga..
Bought a 69 Sonett last year, a bit of a basket case.
So previous owner stated that engine did not run- has been sitting over ten years.
SO after towing back this old sonett, I installed a starter-nothing-meaning seized engine. I tried to turn the engine manually and it would not budge.
AS of now, the engine is out of the car, on an engine stand. I pulled one of the valve covers( driver's side) and what I quickly discovered was a dangling heavily bent (closer to firewall)push rod.
So now questions!
What could cause a sharply bent pushrod?
Is this 1500 open deck or closed deck(1969) It was late so have not pulled the heads off yet to check?
Is it better to rebuild a 1700cc engine as opposed to the 1500? I have a 1700 cc engine sitting on the garage floor with cracked piston. I t is perhaps seized as well for it has been sitting there for over 12 years!
Is the power of the 1700 much more than the 1500? I would simply like to rebuild this one, as it is on the stand already.
any advice to freeing the engine? I was going to purchase the mystery oil, take off the heads and pour it in cylinders-or is it best to remove oil pan, turn engine upside down and pour beneath?
Thanks for any input, experiences in advance.
