I know I'm late to the game, but I don't want to scare away folks with this thread related to the costs of owning a Sonett. Really, it is one of the cheapest classic vehicles I have ever owned (I've had a couple Alfa Spiders, a pair of Jensen Healey and a Fiat 124). There are very few parts that aren't easy to get and used parts show up on eBay all the time. If you do your own work, you won't have to pay $1500 for a hydraulic system update. All brake system parts are easily rebuildable OR things like brake cylinders are readily available for under $15 each. While many things are painful and difficult to reach through that tiny engine bay opening, the car is exceedingly simple in design (even with its front wheel drive). If you're wanting a safely driveable toy, it can be a low cost classic. If you're trying to renew everything to better than new...no car is inexpensive. Its all a matter of what you expect to end up with. :)
