I've been wondering if Chris was still active. Thirty-six years ago I traded him a dead tranny Sonett for a '73 96. Problem was...he had to drive the 96 and a spare gearbox to Louisville, Ky from Ithaca, put the tranny in the Sonett, drive the '73 96 to Charleston, SC where my wife had just started a medicine internship, fly back to Louisville, pick up the repaired Sonett, and finally drive it back to Ithaca, NY.
I found out years later that his trip back to Ithaca had been somewhat fraught. I felt bad for that, but my end of the deal was a little problematic too. The '73 96 had been a northern car for its short lifetime, and the floor had been made largely transparent. The powertrain was fantastic, though. Eventually I found a nice '70 95 with a blown engine that had never left the south, swapped the engine and gearbox, and never looked back.
