I think Todd is talking about the headlight relay assembly that has 2 relays plus wiring to support the 3-way (off, low beam, high beam) functionality. Helpfully, the circuit diagram is printed on the side of the component (see image below).
I was unable to find a source for the Sonett era headlight relay assembly (SAAB part 8562118), but the 900-era relay assembly (SAAB part 9560889) shows pretty much the same circuit. You can see the diagram for the 900 component in a number of listings on ebay (https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2332490.m570.l1313&_nkw=saab+9560889&_sacat=0).
The visible differences between the relays is pin 56a on the Sonett relay is renamed 56b on the 900 one, and the pin labeled "F" on the Sonett relay is renamed to 56a.
The other visible difference is that the pin locations on the bottom of the relay are not the in the same locations. This would be a problem if there was a socket that the relay must be put into, but as I recall the Sonett just has individual wires that are connected directly to the pins - no socket involved at all.
While there could be internal differences between these two, I would be willing to bet that the later version is just a slight repackaging of the component If it were me, I'd be comfortable using the later version and just map the connectors to the new pin names on the relay.
Hope this helps,
Reed
