Might be the choke -- auto choke on a FoMoCo operates thermostatically so temp makes a difference. You might want to try it with the air filter housing off so you can see whether or not the choke linkage is operating properly. If it's sticking, clean it, adjust it, or ditch it and replace with a manual choke, using a conversion kit you can buy at any auto-parts store. (These are "universal" kits with a plastic housing that replaces your auto choke's water-heated thermostat housing, and a cable to let you control the choke position from inside the car.)
Or you could have "percolation" or "vapor lock" -- i.e. fuel gets warm enough that bubbles of fuel vapor form in the lines and keep it from pumping smoothly. I've never had it happen on a SAAB, but maybe it's warmer where you live... I guess it did happen occasionally to the factory rally cars, because in the Sport and Rally Catalog they used to offer an insulating spacer that went between the engine block and the fuel pump, to keep so much heat being transferred to the pump (thickness of spacer also required longer fuel pump pushrod.) Probably tough to get these parts now, but you might try faking up some kind of "heat shield" to deflect block and exhaust heat away from the pump, and see if that helps...
