Okay. Sonetts are weird monsters, period. My 1971 Sonett is badged, grilled, and wheeled just like a 1970. (They tended to use up what they had on the shelf at the factory.) And they DID fudge on the numbers. 1974 Sonetts were sold as 1973 Sonetts in California right up to January 1,1974. We just take the SAAB numbers as a given, even if they sound too easy and well rounded.
Wheels. The 1972 did NOT have the Black accents. They got black in 1973-1974. Have 'em blasted and then clearcoat them. Epoxy does well if you must do the black accents- and like Spiv says "they have to be clean".
Mirrors. The mirrors on your car SHOULD be the bullet chromies. They have two mounting systems. Version one has two screws going into the boor skin, through a reinforced area. Version 2 has a separate mounting plate that is screwed to the door skin and to which the mirror attaches. You can epoxy the holes-but that is a weak fix. The mirrors on your car are problably rotten by now and can be replaced affordably. They can be purchased new from MOSS. Try BritishRacingGreen.com. -Jeff
