Before we get the original poster even more confused, let's clear up the following:
Sonett Super Sports (informally 'Sonett I') -- the original open-cockpit, hand-built, 2-stroke prototype race car; only six made; super-valuable museum piece.
Sonett II -- the first production Sonett; specially tuned TWO-STROKE engine with side-draft carbs; fewer than 300 made; ultra-rare and desirable collectible.
Sonett V-4 -- similar body style to Sonett II (tilt hood, no hatchback, exposed headlamps) but with large, kindaugly hood bulge to accommodate the V4 engine.
Sonett III -- basically same chassis but restyled body (small engine access lid, all-glass hatchback, concealed headlamps) and V4 engine.
So when you're talking about a "Sonett II," purists will think you're talking about the two-stroke version. If you mean the exposed-headlamp body style with the V4 engine, purists will call that the "Sonett V4."
(On the other hand, maybe we shouldn't push this too much, just in case there's some hermit out there with a geniune two-stroke Sonett II stashed in his cave, and who might be gulled into selling it at a "Sonett V4" price if he weren't aware of the difference!)
