I have just purchased an early '73 - no big bumpers, very straight and original, no rust, original throughout, 65K. I have noticed that there are several places below the grill opening where the fiberglass is cracked. This looks to be result of minor bumps to the rubber bump strip. It looks as though it would be very easy to add a reinforcing strip behind this rather narrow and thin area. Any thoughts on whether this is a good idea or would this only transfer impacts into the rest of the front fiberglass? I am planning to remove both front and rear rubber 'bumpers' to clean and derust the backing metal - any advice on techniques? And, of the available single carbs which will give best performance? I have a good solex and want to delete the misc. 'emmision' parts. I will be adding an MSS exhaust and want to do 'better carb' with future plan for two-barrel.
