Howzabout transplanting another complete V4 drivetrain/suspension into the back? Then I'd have a 4-wheel-drive, 8-cylinder, um, Bossonettexplorer?
Lots of plus points here. It'd be a great excuse not to fix that rusty trunk floor... the 'Swiss cheese' panel behind the seats would have to come out to make room for the second engine, so running a pipe back to couple the two shift linkages shouldn't be a problem... and the freewheel would let me run on one engine, the other, or both, so I could still get home when a timing gear or transaxle let go.
Lessee, I'd need to get air to the rear radiator... that's ANOTHER good reason not to fix the trunk floor -- or maybe I could enlarge the rust holes in the rockers into air scoops, sorta like on a 512BB! Yeah, that's it, a Bossonettexplorrari!
Oh, yeah, I guess I'd have to find someplace else to put the fuel tank -- maybe install in place of the passenger seat, which wouldn't cause any problems, as I don't know anybody who'd be nuts enough to ride in such a thing...
