(restoring '70 V4)
Noted on Jack Ashcraft's site that he sez the Weber 32/36 DGV carb he sells for the Sonett has been "used by Formula Ford racers for years." I've heard that Formula Ford racers on a budget in the 70's were wont to pull Ford Pinto motors to power their cars - what carb did the Pinto's use? I doubt it was a Weber...but would it be something better than the Sonett FoMoCo, and would it fit our cars?
Also, I have someone who has a rather crusty Solex one barrel and manifold for sale for about $60...I haven't found any other prices to compare this to - does it sound reasonable? I've heard I should just toss the FoMoCo's that came in a bucket with the car (Geez, I've got 2...), but are the one-barrel Solex's any more reasonable to rebuild?
