So, I've got a 73 Sonett that I run about once a week. Last week I get in to start it and I've got no juice from the battery. I jump start it and drive it for about 1/2 hour. When I shut it off after the drive and try to restart it---nothing, battery still dead. So I take it to an auto parts store and have them test it. It's dead and I need a new battery. Yesterday I install the new battery and the car starts up and drives fine. Here's my question(s): Was it just a dead battery? Could something else (like the alternator or voltage regulator) be bad and draining my battery? If so, how can I check these things?

Also, I hooked a voltage meter up to my new battery once I installed it and took a few readings:

car off--13v
car at idle--14v
car at idle, turn lights on--13.25v
rev car with lights on--13.75v

Do these all sound about normal? Also, are they any indication as to whether my system is running properly?

As always, any input is greatly appreciated...
