Looks like the potential for galvanic reaction between alum. alloy and mild steel is relatively low. I just remembered seeing really corroded steel in concrete parking decks adjacent to aluminum conduit embedded in the deck.
Anyway, for whoever is interested, here is a link (http://www.howtobrew.com/appendices/appendixB-2.html) to the info I found (a brewing site, no less!) that has the table seen below.
The further apart the metals are on the table, the stronger the reaction. As you can see, steel and alum. are pretty close. I like the epoxy idea if welding is out of the question.
