Sonett on two cylinders

I just rebuilt the motor on my 74 Sonett ,engine ran normally Sunday but
I had fuel seepage from FOMOCO carb that I just rebuilt[it was leaking before I rebuilt].Car sat for a few days while I installed 1/2 of new exhaust and a fuel pressure regulator to slow fuel from electric fuel pump.Cranked motor and it BACKFIRED and blew up the one remaining muffler. Now it is running ruff and backfires .Put other exhaust on ,pulled carb and checked everything .Put a plate on decel valve and got it to run with out backfire but now only two cylinders on one side running..cylinders one and two...other two are not burning fuel although they are getting fire and fuel.Checked and reset timing .I checked head pressure and all are good.I did install a pertronix and blue coil when I rebuilt motor.Would the timing gear cause this?..or do you think my distributor is the source of my annoyance...or something else?
I do have a Weber ich coming so maybe this will fix part of my problem.
I know this will be a great car if I ever get all the bugs worked out.
One step forward , two steps back, one step forward ,two steps back...
Oh the joys of a new Saab owner.
Thanks for your time.
