I have followed the discussion about the rear glass for Sonett II/V4. Fact is that the ´66 model had factory mounted rear windows made of plexi. In 1967 the real glass was introduced and the original version had a very strange design because they were prepared for hinges as was introduced on the Sonett III. When standing beside a Sonett II with the original window mounted it is easy to detect this. A new design was introduced in 1968, on the Sonett V4, which is following the car´s profile better and that it is that model which now is available from Motorsport Sweden. It was also that model Saab was selling as spare part long time ago.
If you are having an early Sonett II or Sonett V4 with the old style of glass, be careful with it even if it looks ugly. It is not possible to get new units in that style.
The windscreens and rear windows Motorsport Sweden are marketing are manufactured by the concern who were Saab´s original supplier. The rear windows are even made in the old original tools.
