Correct metal clamps are always the preferred solution, but they may be hard to find unless you go to to a drive line specialty shop, and most styles require special tools to install (not expensive if you do them once in a while) and are probably next-to-impossible to use on-the-car.
Zip ties are not exactly kosher but work just fine in most cases. Go for the wide ones 5/16" I believe. The downsides are that the connector sticks out a little farther than the lowest-lying metal styles so there could conceivably be a clearance issue (not a problem on V4 inners), and they are not really intended for this purpose so over time may not stand up to heat if they are in a hot place. Regular inspection advised.
Worm-drive hose clamps will encounter clearance problems on many applications and I would only use use one in an emergency. However I doubt that there is a balance issue because the lump on the clamp is so close to the axle centerline, compared for example to the distance to the wheel rim where weights are applied to correct tire imbalance.
