...as well as the metal lamp-holder assemblies, which attach to the plastic buckets. I bought the complete assemblies from Jack Ashcraft (see classifieds) -- he happened to have a set in his parts stash.
The way this worked originally, I think, is that the buckets (black plastic cup-shaped cylinders) were supposed to be present whether your car had the optional driving lights or not. If you ordered the driving lights, the dealer added the metal lamp-holder assemblies. The buckets have removable knockouts for the hardware that attaches the lamp holders (four nuts/bolts per side.) There already should be positions in the wiring harness connector block for the driving-light wiring, so the dealer also would have plugged extra terminals into the connector block and hooked these up to the lights.
Before I wrote out the check to Jack A. for new buckets and lamp holders, I tried to think of some DIY alternative. The closest thing I found that seemed as if it MIGHT have worked was PVC plumbing caps. If your parts car has the buckets in it, though, you shouldn't need to worry about that -- all you've got to do is figure out what to use for lamp holders. I don't know what to tell you there -- I've heard that there are some later OEM headlight units that will work (Ford Ranger mini-pickup?) Maybe if you took one of your buckets to a u-pull-it salvage yard and took a walk through, you might spot something that you could adapt. But I gave up and just bought the correct pieces before I got to that stage, so I can't be sure this would work!
I should also point out that I heard from another person who simply bought round quartz-halogen driving lights small enough to fit inside the holes, and attached them right to the fiberglass with the driving lights' regular mounting hardware. No telling how it looked, but it seems like a promising approach if all you care about is getting some more light on the road.
