In my garage I have a 2003 9-5 Aero automatic and a 2003 9-3 Arc 6 speed.
Pure power wise the Aero wins hand down, pure handling the 9-3 is awesome. I guess the real determination between the vehicles will be lifestyle. I'm late 40's so I appreciate the room in the 9-5 for passengers. The 9-3 has actually more room up front but small rear cabin. The 9-3 is my son's car and he had the 9-5lpt before and loves the 9-3.
My son and I are 6'4" and 6'2" respectively and room is not an issue in either. So I guess I would summarize by saying, IMHO, the 9-5 is great performance sedan with a bit more overall room, the 9-3 is a sportier car with real good road feel. The 6 speed is quite acceptable, slightly sloppy but quite nice. Either way your going to get a great car.Enjoy whichever you choose. Not often we get to make a decision with no wrong answer! Good luck!
