Interior integrity on my 06 Aero is pretty good -- better than 03. Still, could be tighter and with different material choices. However I read somewhere that the 07's had dealt with the tightness issues to a large extent.

These problems are, I think, results of cost-control and manufacturing issues -- and no manufacturer is completely immune to them. The Japanese kind of invented the standard and have largely maintained it.

Having said that, I note that Honda's "perfect" execution has become successively less perfect since the first Accord we bought in the early 90's. My 00 Prelude SH had a significant under-chassis rattle in very cold weather. Dealer couldn't / wouldn't find, and it was one of the reasons that I began to bail out of Japanese cars. My wife's 03 Accord EXV6 has had a buzzy rattle in the dash that we've only just recently been able to find, and the which the dealer never could / would find.

Am hoping to see Saab interior materials and execution match Audi, BMW, etc. in next generations. The Mercedes C-class and Audi A4 we owned while living in the U.K. a few years ago were absolutely tight inside, and staid that way over a period of almost four years -- but without accumulating the kind of mileage we do in the Mid-West. Am thinking in terms of 9-5X Aero as next purchase a couple of years down the road -- to be fully competitive with A6, 5-series, etc. I am willing to pay something more than I am paying now to get that quality. So, come on, Saab.
