The 9-3SS *has* an oil monitor, and it triggers at around 15,000 miles at best. Now, the 9-3 gets six (count em) new liters of oil, the 9-5 gets four. The 9-3 drains every last drop of old oil, the 9-5 leaves a quart or so in the oil cooler. The 9-3 has an oil/water heat exchanger that actually warms the oil in cold weather to help drive off contaminates, the 9-5 oil surely runs cold in the winter. And the 9-5 (4 cylinder) has a history of being hard on the oil, the 9-3 seems to be holding up well.
Does anyone really think the 9-5 should run the same oil change interval as the 9-3? I mean other than the SaabUSA Marketeers...
