Oh lordie not a ZF. That was in the 9K. [kaboom!]
All slushboxes in 9-5s, 9-3s and NG900s are Aisin Warner. The 5-speed model in the 2002 is actually a not-too-distant descendant of the 4-speed in the Aero, which is (reportedly) a strengethened version of the 4-speed in the NG/9-3.
As for strength, T7 does alot of things with the torque curves already to protect the slushbox in the 'weaker' times: takeoff (lest you crack a case/throw an axel) and shifting (blow up the clutchpacks). It's conveivable to raise the limits other times. It even slides torque based on RPM in first gear, pretty fine-grained stuff. So, there's not necesarily a single hard limit number. The life of the trans is partially a matter of the approach the tuner took, not entirely on what the biggest number is.
In contrast, tuning T5 (ng900), there was no fine-grain situational control -- the boost limit was the same across all 4 gears, so what you did to 4th you did to 1st. You were therefore limited by what would blow up 1st. Less complex system, less room to work.
As I said before, I'd buy it 'cause I like overtaking. The 00 Aero only gets _really_ sickening on the highway above 75 (it's ludicrous up to 130 from there). If I could move that rush down a tad below supra-legal speeds, I'd like it.
