I have the same car you have - I run 91 octane fuel which is widely available in Colorado. As another poster suggests, read the owner's manual, it will tell you that you can safely run a range of octane. But at 87 you should notice a decrease in power, particularily if you accelrate hard. For optimal power, the manual says 93, I believe that as the manual suggests only on hot days you might notice a power loss (slight) using 91 octane.
I'm not sure the other's poster's info on octane is wholly correct, I believe that modern refining techniques produce the same power output over a range of octane ratings as opposed to the days when more lead was added to the same brew to get higher octane. In any event the combustion chamber design of the Saab engine necessitates a good deal of spark advance, particularily at higher rpms, so if there is not sufficient octane in the fuel pinging will result and retard the spark timing and reduce boost with subsequent loss of power because ignition can no longer occur at the optimal timing point to produce full power. The trionic design is extremely effective at sensing/contolling pinging, so one can run the minimun octane recommendation safely without any engine damge, you just trade off power.
