Some of us have to face realities: SAAB is loosing money. SAAB has been loosing money for a long, long time. GM has indulged us ( the traditionalists ) in trying to keep the product as close as they could to what most of us think a real SAAB is.
Since buyers are not flocking to dealerships. Something has to be done to increase sales or decrease costs. It is needed for the brand to survive. The 9-5 is nice ( I love mine ) but this year it face a new BMW, a new Audi and a new Benz with old technology. I’ve talked to dealers and they find it very hard to sell the car even to returning clients...
I would prefer my next car to be built in Sweden of course. But SAAB faces a bigger problem. GM can start rationalizing and turn exclusively to badge engineering ( 9-2, 9-7 ). Don’t forget that the new Legacy is not far from the 9-5.
