I'm planning to replace mine (on my '01 Linear), along with serp belt & pulleys, at my 96,000km service (hopefully can wait til next spring). Then I'll save the old DI as a spare.
It's a piece of electronics that operates in a harsh environment, can leave you stranded when it fails, is easy enough to replace, and not outrageously priced from a site sponsor.
