It is quite a few CKP sensors that have failed in the 98 and up Saabs compared to older models, why that is, I don't know but my suspicion is the bean counters at Saab demanding a cheap product as possible when they placed the order with the sensor manufacturer.
The V6 engine eating CKP sensors way quicker than the 4 cyl.
The difference in price for repair and that the car will start up again when cold and take you to the repair shop might be a reason why the voices of the people are not raised high enough about the CKP sensor compared to the IDM.
Granted it is quite a number of people that have had the shop (dealers too) misdiagnosed the CKP sensor problem resulting in that the customer had to come back several times before it was fixed.
It's sad that professional mechanics can't figure out how to test the sensor.
