Higher tire pressures help prevent sidewall deformation during spirited driving and/or evasive manuevers. Depending on what brand of tires you're running you'll have to make the pressure/comfort decision based on your type of driving. I keep my tires at ~40 psi and, while the ride can be a bit jumpy over bumps, I appreciate the crisper handling.
