Eh, you mean to say that you assumed all of this?
Don't you have a gauge to check your pressure in your glove box, and use it weekly?
When I first got my car I thought I had a slow leak in my tires.
It turns out that the pressure regulators used by service stations are wildly inaccurate.
It is doubtful that there is any conspiracy to cause your tires to wear out, rather a bit of "driver error" may be to blame.
Also remember that cold & hot pressure varies quite a bit, you can put in PSI on a warm day after a run, and then check it a day later when the car is cool only to find that your pressure has dropped dramatically.
The lower air volume in the smaller tires makes the hot/cold differences much greater.
BTW: I run mine at 43 PSI w/o problems.
