Even with the extra weight, the S4 must have better acceleration (due to AWD?) and braking (design?). Acceleration is the key variable in the change in velocity equation of Final Velocity = Initial Velocity + Acceleration * Time. If time is less in the S4 to get to final velocity of 60mph, acceleration must be slightly greater (than the Aero).
Physics aside, my Aero gets to frightening speeds, quickly and can brake rediculously well. And I love how it "feels" in the twisties and can be equipped w/ a manual (requirement for me).
This cars sweet spot, from what I have determined is 20-70 mph (which seems to happen in an instant). I would put my car up against most in this situation (even an S4). Standing starts would not be considered one of the Aero's strongest features. But then again, most drivers of these cars enjoy the drive and ride, not putting the "title" on the line on a Friday night between stoplights.
