Hard downshift Posted by adl6009 [Email] ![]() ![]() |
[2002 9-5 arc, auto, 9000 miles-now with 14000 miles, purchased june 05 as a certified pre owned.]
I'll be brining it back in for the downshift problem. I was wondering if anyone has had similiar problems or could offer advice about talking with the service manager and saab.
This is the 3rd trip for this problem. What happens is an intermitent hard downshift from 3rd to 2nd. The dealer has serviced the car as instructed in the tsb I got from swedecar sometime ago. They deleted the adaptive memory- twice, changed and analyzed the fluid, and opened a case file with saab. Originally the car would downshift hard like I said, after the first time the memory was deleted I had the hardest downshift ever. The entire car shook. Otherwise the downshift is more like banging it into gear. Hard but not catastrophic. It happens occasionally. Usually after letting the car slow down with little braking.
I said that the dealer has serviced according to the tsb (440-2497, October, 2004 by the way), except for the last part-
a) Compare the gearbox serial
number and the software ID
number and make sure that they
correspond.
b) Clear the adaptation values
and perform adaptation,
resetting. If the procedures do
not help and the customer
complaints continue, replace the gearbox.
So I have another appointment Jan 3 I just thought I would throw it out to the board for opinions.
